Tom
Tom and his sister started this Academy when they went to their first Instructor course in September 2017. Tom discovered a passion for teaching that shows in every class and workshop he leads. He is currently an instructor in Form 1, Form 2, and Course Y. He is hoping to add Form 3 staff to his repertoire in the future. His favorite Form, both in teaching and in competition is Form 2. Competitors from across the US look forward to pitting themselves against his Form 2 in the ring.
Kristie
Jen and Tom asked Kristie to join the Academy as a student and the Prophet in March of 2021. Kristie enjoyed the sport right from the beginning and then she went to her first tournament. There she fell in love with the community the sport offers. She developed a passion for helping her Academy grow and in October of 2022, journeyed to Elmira Heights, NY to take a Form 1 instructor course. She brings a bubbliness and a sense of joy into her classes. Her favorite form for teaching and competing is Form 1. But she is anticipating discovering Form 3 duals as soon as she can.
Jen
Jen started this Academy in 2017 with her brother. They had both seen videos on YouTube from European tournaments and thought this was something that could add to the community in Grand Forks. Jen is now an instructor in Form 1, Form 2, Course Y, and Form 3 long. She brings a gentle and accepting energy to her classes. Her favorite form to teach is Form 1 because it’s the framework from which we build. Her favorite form to compete, however, is Form 3 long. She loves the interaction between her and her competitor in this form.
